The Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia is just 60 miles from
D.C. and Baltimore, but a world apart from the hassles of city living.
New residents cite "quality of life" as their primary
motivation for moving here. Property taxes, real estate costs, and
cost of living are a fraction of those of the D.C. suburbs.
We are bound
on the north by the Potomac River, and on the east by the Potomac
and Shenandoah Rivers. The Blue Ridge mountains dominate most of
the County's viewscape. Our average
maximum temperature is 65.5 and the minimum average temperature
is 42.6. Average yearly precipitation is 36 inches and the typical
yearly snowfall is 24 inches.
